This summer, the senior group members from the Renaissance Center at St. Andrew the Apostle Church had a special visit from their youth ministry group. Dan Maney, Pastoral Associate of Youth Ministry invited several members of the youth group to visit the senior members to help them understand and enhance their skills using their smartphones and tablets. The tech savvy teens were able to assist the senior group members with some of the most common challenges they are faced with; retrieving voicemail messages, sending and receiving a text, sharing and saving photos and understanding the social media world; Facebook, Twitter and Instagram applications. A senior member shared, “I am forever grateful to have the youth group here today to help me with my smartphone. It has helped me to understand the different features so much better. ”
The two intergenerational groups where enjoying one another’s company so much that the youth group decided to extend their stay to join the senior members in singing several karaoke songs. Lots of fun and many lasting memories were enjoyed by all!
