On the New Roman Missal Translation – Boston Study Group
On November 27, 2011., the Catholic Church will begin to use the new translation of the Roman Missal. A study group of priests and a pastoral worker came together in Boston to prepare to sign the new translation of the Roman Missal in American Sign Language (ASL).

The New Roman Missal for Interpreters – Archdiocese of Washington
On March 22-24, 2011 a series of video clip/s was created by a national team of experienced Deaf persons, clergy, pastoral workers, and liturgical interpreters for reference and practice while preparing to interpret the new translation of the Roman Missal into American Sign Language for the Catholic Deaf Community.

Religious American Sign Language (RASL)
This program is intended for Priests, deacons and seminarians who work with the Deaf Community – Working interpreters who have been certified (or qualified in their state) –  Deaf ASL Lectors (members of the Deaf community who are now doing the readings for Sunday liturgies).

The U.S. Catholic Bishops remind us that the parish is the center of the Christian experience; therefore, pastoral ministers should make every effort to fully include parishioners with disabilities.   For people who are deaf to be fully included they need access to programs and liturgies in American Sign Language or interpreted into sign language.
