St. Peter’s Senior Stroll at the Cooper River

On Saturday, November 3rd, St. Peter’s Senior Ministry hosted its first Senior Stroll at the Cooper River in Pennsauken, NJ. It was a crisp, beautiful, sunny morning just perfect for a stroll. Donned in their green “Senior Stroll” t-shirts, participants began the day with a prayer given by Senior Ministry Director, Bobbie Bradley and then walked at their own pace , with or without the assistance of a walker or a supportive friend, along the scenic Cooper River. Yes, there was even one participant who came with her walker and determination which helped her finish her 1/2 mile route.

Each walker got to choose how far they would walk depending on their own ability and fitness keeping in mind that not only did they have to walk up the route, they also had to walk back! But for those needing a little encouragement, lining the way were strategically placed cheerleaders from the Senior Ministry, complete with pom-poms, enthusiasm and an encouraging shout-out or song.

Once finished, participants received their own gold medal complete with a red, white and blue ribbon and bragging rights for completing their stroll. It turned out to be a day filled with fun, fellowship and exercise. A perfect combination to stay healthy and young at heart.
